USL MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Posted Mon Apr 26, 2010 - 07:29 AM

The USL is NOT a "learn-to-play" league! You are expected to have good, basic skating skills and some experience playing organized hockey. This stipulation exists as a logical corollary to the Code of Sportsmanship, because new/weak skaters are a hazard to themselves and other players. If you have any questions, please contact the USL at info.uslhockey@gmail.com.

Adults interested in learning to play hockey can take advantage of programs and classes taught at the Mt. Lebanon Ice Rink. Visit http://www.mtlebanon.org/index.aspx?NID=173#Hockey or call 412-561-4363 for more information.

ULTRALIGHT SENIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE CODE OF SPORTSMANSHIP - Important - Please Read!

Posted Wed Jan 27, 2010 - 06:21 AM

"The USL was created to provide an organized venue for older players to participate in a competitive hockey league where exercise, camaraderie and fun take precedence over winning. It is a thinking-players league where the proper attitude is an absolute imperative and where speed, aggressive play and contact of any sort must take second place to the safety and well-being of every skater on the ice. For many players, this takes a keen level of awareness to think and control one's actions beyond the hockey reflexes that may have been learned over many years in more traditional leagues. THE USL WELCOMES ALL PLAYERS WHO SHARE THIS CODE OF SPORTSMANSHIP AND CAN DEMONSTRATE THE MENTAL SKILLS ABOVE AND BEYOND THE PHYSICAL ONES."
